you are what you eat
I watched a Ted Talks two days ago about the true self. The man giving the talk suggested that there is no self without the experiences and parts that make it up. Yes, there is a personality, but everything you do and see and experience creates what you are. It’s not a simple subject to explain in a little blog post, but it’s something to consider.
Although part of me would be inclined to reject this I’m somehow starting to believe so strongly in its validity. It gives me hope for growth. For change. I need that when I feel so very stuck in one place. Who I am today is completely different from who I was a year ago. And when I turn 24 I can be whoever I want to be based on the things I do and take in. It’s important to recognize that this isn’t faking. Faking is today. Change is gradual and is, at times, intentional.
You are, after all, the sum of your parts.
